The building was acquired from Delta Dental in 1986 by Barker Pacific Group as an inducement for the tenant/owner to anchor BPG's major office development, 100 First Plaza, located at First and Mission in San Francisco. The building renovations were completed in 1991, and by 1992 was fully leased to the City of San Francisco for 20 years. The building was sold to San Francisco Unified School District in 2012.
