Supervisors OK Library Move

Novato Advance - January 28, 2004 - The Ignacio branch of the Marin County Free Library will move to Hanger No. 6 in Hamilton in late May or early June. Yesterday, Marin County supervisors OK'd a 10-year lease of 7,900 square feet of space in the old military airplane hangar at Hamilton Landing, with an option for two 5-year lease renewals. The landlord is Barker Pacific Group.

"It was always the intention, when we opened the South Novato library branch, to eventually move to Hamilton," said South Novato Branch Manager Donna Meittier. "To finally be going there feels really good."

The library in Hamilton will be 50 percent larger than the 2,000-square-foot facility in Ignacio. The Marin County Free Library will also be moving some library services to Hamilton. The Marinet automation system will move there from the Marin County Civic Center, and the library's technical services will relocate from current facilities in an old bank building in Bel Marin Keys.
